The A7 is likely the cheapest option for full frame digital and M lenses. I've been using mine with the 50mm Voigtlander Nokton for the last few years as well as the 35mm f2.5 color skopar both are LTM versions. The 35mm is not great in the corners on the A7 but it works for me. I also use my AIs Nikkors on the A7 too.

On a 57mm lens, the Sony a7 / a7R's preference for 1/60 sec in aperture priority mode would have almost certainly been a recipe for camera shake.. As far as fast focus for manual lenses, do like Leica M2-3, Set in M at F8-11, Zone focus using depth of field marks on lens, and 1/250 with Auto Iso . Works great for people with wide angle 28-35mm.

The reason for concern is that the Leica M camera firmware coupled with sensor design is configured to work with and correct the known aberrations in its own lenses, whereas the Sony A7r is not. This is not such a big concern in medium to long focal lengths, but can become serious with wide angles.

New E-mount options seem to be coming out all the time, like the Voigtländer 10mm f/5.6 Hyper-Wide Heliar and 15mm f/4.5 Super-Wide Heliar, as well as the Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 and 25mm f/2. These are great options, and much more reasonably priced compared to offerings from Leica.
